In the 1960s, before the first Soviet manned spaceship missions it was crucial for Soviets to find the optimum air parameters and investigate the relationships between air compositions and breathing, body oxygenation, symptoms, and health. This confidential project was organized and funded by the Soviet Ministry of Aviation and Space Research in Novosibirsk. A young aspiring PhD Konstantin Buteyko, MD, an Honour Graduate of the 1-st Moscow Medical Institute was selected as a manager of the respiratory laboratory to lead this physiological project in Novosibirsk (Academgorodok). He was provided with the most advanced equipment, best available personnel and all other resources.

Saying no to GMO can be the healthier option and a choice out of principle and fairness…
Genetically modified organisms (GMO) have had their DNA altered through biotechnology. For example, this has occured in plants that have been made to confer resistance to a specific organism (bugs or viruses) or chemicals (herbicides, pesticides or fungicides).
However, should I or we say no to GMO?
Quite simply, in a word ‘YES!
Here are the three reasons why I would advise people to say no to GMO at every given opportunity.

Regarded around the world as the most prestigious tournament for European national teams, the UEFA European Cup football tournament has been held every four years since 1960. This year’s version, Euro 2008 is offering a total of 184 million Euros in prize money. The winner will hoist a newly designed 8 kg trophy and will represent UEFA at the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa.
