The Acai Berry - A Waste of Time or Not?

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

A few lines first if you haven't heard of the magic and publicity this little berry has been generating.

The Acai (pronounced ah-sah-ee) Berry is native to Central and South America, grown mainly in swamps and floodplains. It has been around now for about 5 years. It grows atop Acai Palm Trees. When harvested the pulp of the fruit needs to be quickly frozen in order to preserve its nutrients. The quality of the berry has been shown to degrade rapidly if not frozen straight away. It's a deep purple colour, about one inch in diameter, similar to a grape but with less pulp. The Palm is also harvested for its hearts of palm' which are often consumed in salads.

Horse Facts - Tips And Tricks For You And Your Equine Love

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

Horses have long been among the most economically important domesticated animals; although their importance has declined with mechanization, they are still found worldwide, fitting into human lives in various ways. As prey animals, they have very large eyes (only the whale has a larger eye), with excellent day and night vision, though they may have a limited range of color vision. Horses also are used for historical reenactment of specific periods of history, to preserve cultural resources, or for ceremonial purposes. Around the world, horses play a role within human economies, for leisure, sport and working purposes. But today the term “warmblood” usually refers to a group of sport horse breeds that have dominated the Olympic Games and World Equestrian Games in Dressage and Show Jumping since the 1950s. Horses require annual vaccinations to protect against various diseases, need routine hoof care by a farrier, and regular dental examinations from a veterinarian or a specialized equine dentist.

Trout Fishing Tips For The Average Angler

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

It seems to me that almost all trout anglers are looking for tips to help them catch more trout. In this article, I’m going to reveal some trout fishing tips for the average angler. None of these tips are rocket science, in fact most of them are simple. They were taught to me more than 20 years ago by the best trout fisherman I’ve ever known. He was the father of my best friend and he was quite a trout fisherman. As a matter of fact he caught trophy trout out of rivers and streams that other people didn’t think that trout that size lived in. When I refer to trophy trout, I’m referring to trout that were (and are) over twenty two inches long. When it comes to small rovers and streams, trout this size are trophies, at least in my book. In any case, these tips were used by him to help him catch large trout in areas that most people thought didn’t hold large trout.
