Yoga was not just a way to keep fit. It was a way of life for the ancients of India. A good diet with lots of fruit and vegetables along with yoga and meditation were some of the reasons why these ancient people lived for such a long time. Yoga started gaining popularity in the West in the 1960s. Back then the people began to look at the old Eastern traditions and special practices as ways to keep healthy, fit and fine.
In fact, you can get rid of all that extra fat in your body just by doing some easy yoga exercises. Remember that yoga does not advocate the stressing of the body in any fashion. And this is the reason why it has to be done extremely gently with one movement flowing into another harmoniously. Remember to ask your doctor whether you are fit enough to do yoga exercises.

Let’s look at philosophy, which runs parallel to Yoga. Lao Tsu once said: “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” The first step toward self-confidence is action. The fact that you are reading this article is not a coincidence. You saw the title and decided to take action (Karma).
The next logical step is the realization that you are constantly required to take action in order to succeed in life. We cannot completely give up on life, while we exist on this earth. So, as long as we are living, we might as well take positive action, which bears fruit (Vipaka).

It is the most popular branch of Yoga. People call it “Yoga of postures”. Hatha Yoga is so ancient, and its main concept is that a strong and relaxed body guarantees a spiritual progress. Its goals are to have a strong, healthy, flexible and relaxed body. The word “Hatha” means “sun + moon”, which symbolizes the opposite currents in the system of the human body. This is because Hatha Yoga depends on a set of exercises, which supply the body with positive and negative currents, and so, it neutralizes the harmful energies in the body and increases beneficial energies, making the person more active and productive. This is due to the stable state the body reaches on practicing it.

The idea of visualizing anything, and acquiring it, sounds tempting. You may be asking, “Exactly how does visualization and Yoga meditation work?” Mental imagery (visualization) is a powerful motivator for the subconscious mind. Focused thought (meditation) is a powerful tool for direction.
Consider this: Light seems relatively harmless, unless we have been out in the sun for too long. Yet, when you focus light into a laser beam you have created a powerful surgical cutting tool, which has a variety of constructive uses.
If you take the mental images of your mind, and constructively focus them toward empowerment, you will attain it. Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Anwar Sadat, each had focused vision and put it into action. Everything they envisioned came to pass.
